Eagle's Nest & Buzzard's Roost

Quieter overlooks reached from the same trail network, ideal when the main pinnacles are busy.

About this trail

Eagle's Nest and Buzzard's Roost are the quieter corners of the Indian Fort Mountain trail network. Reached from the same trailhead as the main pinnacles, these overlooks see a fraction of the foot traffic, making them ideal on busy weekends when the lookout is crowded. The views are just as rewarding — rocky perches above the forest canopy with long sightlines across Madison County. Trail junctions are signed; grab a photo of the trailhead map at the Forestry Outreach Center before setting out.
