Things to Do
Historic Boone Tavern
A landmark hotel and restaurant operated by Berea College since 1909.
Boone Tavern Hotel & Restaurant is one of Berea's most iconic institutions. Located in the heart of the College Square district, this historic Georgian-style hotel has welcomed guests for over a century and is famous for its Southern hospitality and signature spoonbread.
A living piece of history
Established in 1909, Boone Tavern was named after frontiersman Daniel Boone. The building is owned by Berea College, and much of its handcrafted furniture was made by students in the college's woodcraft program — a tradition that continues today.
Dining & spoonbread
The restaurant is renowned for classic Southern cuisine, with its famous spoonbread served at every meal. Reservations are recommended, especially during festival weekends and Berea College events.
A green landmark
Boone Tavern is a LEED Gold-certified historic hotel, blending its early-1900s character with modern, sustainable renovations. Staying here also supports the college's student labor program.
